According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, Officer Keen was shot and killed in LaBelle, Florida, while off duty after he attempted to stop a hit-and-run suspect.
ODMP reports that Hendry County deputies located Officer Keen's body after responding to reports of a shooting near Nobles Road and Apache Circle, and that three subjects were taken into custody. ODMP lists his cause of death as gunfire and records that he had served with FWC for six years.
The Associated Press, citing the Hendry County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, also reported in 2020 that an off-duty Florida wildlife officer had been found fatally shot in rural Hendry County and that three suspects were in custody.
