End of Watch: Sunday, October 11, 2026

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — ThinBlueNews remembers Homicide Agent Kevin Morris of the Brevard County Sheriff's Office, whose End of Watch was Sunday, October 11, 2026. He was 55.

The Officer Down Memorial Page classifies Morris's line-of-duty death as an automobile crash. ODMP records that he was traveling to the scene of a deputy-involved shooting when a wrong-way driver struck his agency vehicle head-on on Interstate 95 in Titusville.

Responding when the collision occurred

The Brevard County Sheriff's Office said Morris died after another vehicle traveling the wrong way on I-95 struck his vehicle early Sunday. The agency identified him as a homicide agent and described his death as in the line of duty.

ODMP states that the head-on collision occurred shortly after 11 p.m. south of State Road 46. Both vehicles caught fire, and Morris and the other driver died at the scene.

FOX 35 Orlando reported, citing the Florida Highway Patrol, that a witness saw a vehicle make a U-turn near mile marker 223 and travel south in the northbound lanes before the collision near mile marker 221.

A career of service and commendation

The Sheriff's Office said Morris joined the agency as a deputy on February 2, 2021, and served there for more than five years. He previously served with the Palm Bay Police Department from 2001 to 2012.

During his law-enforcement career, Morris received numerous letters of commendation, commendable service awards and a Life Saving Award, according to the official release. ODMP lists his wife and daughter among his survivors.

Investigation status

The Sheriff's Office said the Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. WPBF 25 also reported the FHP investigation and the agency's announcement that Morris was responding to the earlier incident when the collision occurred.
