Share a Verified End of Watch Memory or Correction

Families, colleagues, agencies and community members may send ThinBlueNews a verified memory, service detail, official update or correction about a fallen law-enforcement officer or public-safety servant.

A submission is an editorial lead. It is not automatically made public. ThinBlueNews checks names, dates, agencies and other factual claims against public or agency-supported sources. If we want to quote a personal memory, use a submitted photograph or identify the person who submitted it, we will seek clear permission to publish first.

What to include

• The officer’s full name, rank and agency.
• Your relationship to the officer or agency, if you are comfortable sharing it privately with the newsroom.
• The verified memory, service detail, memorial update or correction.
• A public source link, such as an agency release, official memorial, ODMP record or attributable local report.
• Whether ThinBlueNews may contact you to discuss permission to publish the submitted memory or media.

Privacy and dignity

Do not submit private medical information, home addresses, personal phone numbers, accusations, active-case evidence, information about children, or private details about another person. Do not upload a photograph unless you have authority to share it for editorial review.

ThinBlueNews does not publish private contact information. Family and agency corrections receive priority, but every factual change still needs a source trail. Submitting information does not guarantee publication or transfer ownership of any photograph or writing.

Submission status: The dedicated remembrance form is temporarily unavailable while ThinBlueNews finishes a purpose-specific consent and media-permission workflow. Do not use the Hometown Hero nomination form for End of Watch information. Please do not send sensitive memorial or family information through another form as a workaround.

ThinBlueNews will place the dedicated form here only after its wording, privacy handling, quotation permission and submitted-media permission are independently verified.

What happens next

When the dedicated form becomes available, ThinBlueNews will review each submission, check its public source link and compare it with the existing memorial record. We will not send automated outreach to families or publish an unverified memory directly from a form.
