ThinBlueNews remembers Agent Luis Algarin De Jesús of the Puerto Rico Police Department on the anniversary of his End of Watch, Monday, June 24, 2024.

According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, Agent Algarin De Jesús was killed when his motorcycle was struck on Highway PR-1 in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico.

ODMP reports that the crash happened around 6:00 a.m. in the Jauca neighborhood as Agent Algarin De Jesús was traveling on the two-lane highway. ODMP says the driver of an SUV crossed the center line while attempting to pass another vehicle and struck Agent Algarin De Jesús’ motorcycle head-on.

ODMP records that Agent Algarin De Jesús had served with the Puerto Rico Police Department for 30 years and was assigned to the Santa Isabel District. ODMP also lists his National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund panel location as panel 39, line 1.

WAPA TV, cited in ODMP’s source notes, also reported the line-of-duty crash and identified Agent Algarin De Jesús as the motor officer who died after the collision in Santa Isabel.

This anniversary remembrance is offered with respect for Agent Algarin De Jesús’ family, the Puerto Rico Police Department, the Santa Isabel District, and the community that continues to carry his memory forward.
