MBI investigation

WXXV News 25, reporting information attributed to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, said Claiborne County deputies were attempting to disperse a crowd in the parking lot of Michael Dean's Convenience Store near Hermanville around midnight when gunfire was directed toward the crowd.

WXXV reported that Bailey and a female bystander were struck. Both were taken to a local hospital; Bailey later died, while authorities described the bystander's injuries as non-life-threatening. MBI agents were assessing the scene and collecting evidence. The bureau said its findings would be submitted to the local district attorney and the Mississippi Attorney General's Office when the investigation is complete.

Local corroboration

Vicksburg Daily News reported that Claiborne County Coroner Kieon Neal identified Bailey and confirmed that his family had been notified. The outlet also reported that MBI had taken over the investigation. Darkhorse Press separately reported the same identity and MBI account.
