ThinBlueNews remembers Police Officer Gabriel Facio of the Apache Junction Police Department in Arizona on the first anniversary of his End of Watch, Sunday, June 8, 2025.
According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, Officer Facio was wounded during a June 2, 2025 response to a road-rage and weapons call near Ironwood Drive and Elliott Road. ODMP reports that he remained hospitalized in critical condition before succumbing to his injuries six days later.
ODMP lists Officer Facio as a three-year Apache Junction officer who had also served in Phoenix and with other area agencies. The City of Apache Junction later opened a public “Kind Words for Officer Facio” page for prayers, memories, and support for his family, and the Apache Junction Police Foundation planned a 2026 event to help send department members and family to National Police Week, where his name would be unveiled on the memorial wall.
The loss remains deeply personal: ODMP records that Officer Facio was survived by his wife, daughter, son, parents, and a grandchild. Today’s remembrance is offered with gratitude for his service and with respect for the family, colleagues, and community who continue to carry his memory.
One year later, Officer Facio’s name still represents courage, duty, and the cost borne by families and departments when a law-enforcement officer does not return home.
