MISSOURI CITY, Texas — Three Missouri City police officers entered a creek and brought a child safely out of the water after responding to a call earlier this month, according to the department's police chief and a newly published local report.
FOX 26 Houston reported Thursday, Aug. 20, that officers were called Aug. 7 to the area of Glenn Lakes Lane and West Creek Club Drive. Police described the child as an autistic boy.
Officers enter the water together
When police arrived, they found the boy in the water. Officer Trevino, Officer Guerra and Officer Schuessler immediately entered the creek and worked together to bring him to safety, according to a statement from Missouri City Police Chief Troy Finner quoted by FOX 26.
Finner praised the officers' quick response, teamwork and willingness to act during a critical moment. He said their actions reflected a part of police service that extends beyond enforcing the law: being present when someone needs help most.
What officials have—and have not—released
The published account does not state the boy's age or explain how he reached the creek. ThinBlueNews is not identifying the child or speculating about the circumstances. The report also does not describe an injury or hospitalization, so this article limits the outcome to the department's stated fact: officers brought him to safety.
Autism is included only because police used it to describe the child in their public account. It should not be treated as a diagnosis made by this newsroom or as an explanation for what happened.
The safe recovery highlights the importance of coordinated, immediate action when a child is found near water. In this case, three civilian law-enforcement officers reached the scene, entered the creek and completed the rescue as a team.
