CASA GRANDE, Ariz. — ThinBlueNews remembers Border Patrol Agent Manuel A. Alvarez on the 10th anniversary of his End of Watch, Thursday, August 11, 2016. This is an anniversary remembrance, not a report of a new death.
The official U.S. Customs and Border Protection In Memoriam record says Alvarez was killed in the line of duty near Casa Grande after a vehicle accident. The Officer Down Memorial Page records that he and another agent were conducting a dirt-bike patrol on rugged land when their motorcycles collided. This remembrance omits graphic detail and centers his service and continuing legacy.
Thirteen years with the U.S. Border Patrol
CBP records that Alvarez entered on duty July 13, 2003, as a member of U.S. Border Patrol Academy Class 557. He was assigned to the Casa Grande Station in Arizona. ODMP describes 13 years of Border Patrol service.
Both records identify Alvarez as 37 years old. CBP says he was survived by his wife, four children, parents and two sisters. ThinBlueNews includes only those limited public family facts out of respect for privacy.
Remembered 10 years later
