ThinBlueNews remembers Deputy Sheriff Erika Serrato of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office in Texas, whose End of Watch was Sunday, June 28, 2026.
The Officer Down Memorial Page records that Deputy Serrato was killed while directing traffic near the Woodlands Parkway exit on Interstate 45 North shortly after deputies were called to assist with a multi-vehicle crash.
ODMP reports that she was directing traffic near marked patrol vehicles with emergency lights activated when she was struck by a heavy-duty commercial vehicle pulling a trailer. ODMP says she was transported to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Another Montgomery County deputy was injured by debris and treated for minor injuries.
KPRC Click2Houston also reported that Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputy Erika Serrato, 24, was struck by a commercial truck while directing traffic at the scene of a crash on I-45 North near The Woodlands.
ODMP lists Deputy Serrato as 24 years old and notes that she served with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office for six years. This remembrance is offered with respect for her family, her sheriff's office colleagues, the deputies and first responders who answered that scene, and the Texas law-enforcement community carrying her memory forward.
Deputy Serrato's End of Watch is a solemn reminder that the traffic-control work protecting crash scenes and other motorists is dangerous, necessary service — and that every fallen deputy leaves a family, an agency, and a community forever changed.
