ThinBlueNews remembers Animal Control Officer Darrian May Young of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office in Michigan, whose End of Watch was Saturday, June 6, 2020.
According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, Animal Control Officer Darrian May Young succumbed to injuries sustained on June 4, 2020, when her patrol truck was struck by an impaired driver in Monroe County, Michigan.
ODMP reports that Officer Young was driving on South Raisinville Road when the driver ran a red light and struck her vehicle on the driver’s side. She was transported to a local hospital and passed away on June 6, 2020.
Animal Control Officer Young had served with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office for one year and held a Special Deputy commission. ODMP lists her survivors as her fiancé, parents, sister, step-siblings and grandparents.
For this remembrance card, ThinBlueNews added a restrained paw-print detail to recognize her confirmed animal-control role while keeping the memorial solemn and uncluttered.
Her service reminds us that law-enforcement sacrifice includes animal control officers, too.
