SUMMIT, New Jersey — Summit Police Department Officer Ashley Correa was honored with a Lifesaving Award after police officials said her off-duty response helped save a woman experiencing a medical emergency in Clifton.
According to TAPinto Summit reporting by Chris Wightman, Correa was traveling through Clifton on March 4 when she saw an unresponsive woman lying in the roadway.
The report said Correa stopped to help, attempted a welfare check and administered Narcan. The woman regained consciousness and was later transported to a hospital by emergency medical services, according to the report.
Recognition at Common Council
Summit Police Chief Ryan Peters presented the Lifesaving Award at a Summit Common Council meeting, recognizing Correa’s quick response and decisive action, TAPinto reported.
Officials said the intervention reflected the department’s commitment to preserving life, with the award presented during the ceremonial portion of the meeting.
