ThinBlueNews remembers Police Officer Don “DJ” Keller of the Greenwood Police Department in South Carolina, whose End of Watch was Monday, May 11, 2026.
According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, Officer Keller was killed in a head-on collision while responding to assist after a driver fled from a traffic stop.
ODMP reports that the stop involved a vehicle suspected in several shooting-related incidents. As the fleeing vehicle traveled westbound on East Cambridge Avenue, it struck Officer Keller’s vehicle as he was traveling eastbound to assist. Officer Keller died at the scene. ODMP notes that his K9 partner survived the collision.
The South Carolina Fraternal Order of Police said Officer Keller served Greenwood with honor, professionalism, and dedication, and identified him as a Ware Shoals High School and South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy graduate who joined Greenwood City Police in 2023. The FOP also noted that he became a K9 officer with K9 Vice in 2025 after serving in the United States Army and National Guard.
Local reporting from WYFF News 4 described the public funeral service held at Lander University and reported that authorities said the crash followed a pursuit connected to multiple recent crimes and shootings in the area.
ODMP lists Officer Keller’s survivors as his wife and daughter. This remembrance is offered with respect for his family, his Greenwood Police Department colleagues, K9 Vice, and the community carrying his memory forward.
