Conservation officers, Nottingham police and firefighters helped a group of lost hikers out of Pawtuckaway State Park after the hikers could not find their way back to their car following sunset, according to NH Fish and Game.

The agency said it was notified at approximately 7 p.m. on October 24, 2026 of multiple lost hikers on Shaw Trail in Nottingham, New Hampshire.

A trail intersection became the access point

According to the release, conservation officers responded to Fundy Trail alongside Nottingham Fire Department and Nottingham Police Department. Responders staged vehicles at the intersection of Shaw Trail and Fundy Trail, then hiked approximately half a mile along Shaw Trail to reach the group.

Rescuers walked the hikers to the trail intersection and transported them from there to the trailhead. The agency said the hikers received medical attention from Nottingham Fire Department.
