LOS BANOS, California — A 3-year-old abducted from the Los Angeles area was recovered safely along Interstate 5 on Wednesday. Then officers waiting for the child’s return home added a quieter act of service: they brought clothes, food and comfort.
KMPH FOX26 reported Thursday, citing the Los Angeles Police Department and California Highway Patrol, that the child was taken from Van Nuys by a noncustodial parent during a home invasion Wednesday morning.
Interagency work brought the vehicle to a stop
Investigators tracked the rental vehicle into western Fresno County near Shields Avenue. CHP officers from the Los Banos area and Fresno County sheriff’s deputies moved in behind the vehicle in an unmarked car, according to the local report.
The report says OnStar remotely disabled the vehicle’s engine, bringing it to a stop without a pursuit. Three adults in the vehicle were taken into custody, including the child’s noncustodial parent, and officers found the child safe.
