A Florida crash response turned into a life-saving medical emergency when Hillsborough County sheriff’s deputies found a driver unconscious, pulseless and not breathing after a crash along Interstate 4, according to WPEC/CBS12 reporting.

The station reported that the rescue happened Wednesday after a deputy stopped to check on people involved in the I-4 crash. While the deputy was assessing the scene, the deputy was directed to a woman who was unconscious behind the wheel of a vehicle.

Authorities said the woman had no pulse and was not breathing, according to WPEC. A second deputy arrived moments later and joined the rescue effort.

The deputies removed the woman from the vehicle and immediately began CPR. During the response, one deputy deployed a defibrillator while both deputies continued emergency medical care, the report said.
