ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey — Atlantic City Police Sergeant Christian Ivanov received a hero’s welcome as he was released from AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center after recovering from life-threatening injuries sustained in the line of duty, according to a City of Atlantic City official news release.
The city said members of the Atlantic City Police Department, law-enforcement partners, city leaders, family members, friends and hospital staff gathered outside the medical center for a clap-out and honor guard escort recognizing Ivanov’s public service.
As Ivanov left the hospital, those gathered applauded and cheered, celebrating his progress and the determination he displayed during his recovery, the city reported.
A public show of support after a line-of-duty injury
The official release did not include detailed circumstances of the injuries. ThinBlueNews is limiting this story to the public recovery and support information released by the city, rather than adding unverified incident details.
For Support Law Enforcement readers, the scene is a reminder that the community side of police work often continues long after an emergency call ends: hospital staff, families, officers, city leaders and partner agencies showing up together when an officer begins the long road back.
