ThinBlueNews remembers Trooper Kevin Trainor of the Massachusetts State Police, whose End of Watch was Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, Trooper Trainor was killed in a vehicle crash on Route 1 in Lynnfield after reports of a wrong-way driver. ODMP says he was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Massachusetts State Police announced Trooper Trainor’s line-of-duty death and said 911 received a call shortly before 2 a.m. about a wrong-way driver traveling south on Route 1 North. MSP said troopers located the vehicle at 2:03 a.m. and that one minute later it collided with Trooper Trainor’s cruiser.

MSP said Trooper Trainor had served previously as a corrections officer in Essex County before joining the State Police as a member of the 88th Recruit Training Troop. The agency described him as a field training officer, a member of the Troop Community Action Team, and someone classmates remembered as “the guy you wanted as your backup.”

ODMP lists Trooper Trainor’s survivors as his mother, fiancée, and four siblings. This remembrance is offered with respect for his family, his Massachusetts State Police colleagues, and the communities carrying his memory forward.

Trooper Trainor’s End of Watch is a reminder that every call for help can ask everything of those who answer it, and that remembrance should be carried with dignity long after the procession ends.
