MERIDIAN, Idaho — The Treasure Valley DUI Task Force is urging Halloween celebrants to arrange a sober ride as it marks two years of coordinated enforcement and education, according to Idaho State Police.
In an announcement released October 28, 2026, state police outlined a three-day Halloween enforcement operation scheduled to begin the following evening. October 28 is the announcement date, not the date of a crash or an arrest.
Three steps before the ride home
The task force's advice focuses on decisions people can make before anyone drives:
- Plan ahead for a sober ride.
- Do not ride with an impaired driver.
- Speak up if someone is about to drive impaired.
Eight agencies, shared resources
According to the release, the task force formed in October 2024 in response to an increase in impaired-driving crashes. It brings together eight law enforcement agencies that pool personnel and resources with the goal of preventing serious injuries and deaths.
Community presentations are available
The task force also offers impaired-driving presentations for businesses, schools and community organizations, state police said. Sessions can include impairment-goggle demonstrations and discussions of how alcohol affects coordination, judgment and safe driving.
Organizations can request a presentation through Sgt. Brandon Rowley at [email protected], the contact listed in the official release.
This report covers the October 28 announcement and its public-safety guidance. It does not report results of the Halloween operation.
