ThinBlueNews remembers Constable Mohamed Lamine Benredouane of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal, whose End of Watch was Monday, June 22, 2026.

CityNews Montreal reported that Montreal police confirmed Constable Benredouane was killed in the line of duty while protecting the public during an active-shooter response in the Côte-des-Neiges borough. The public SPVM statement embedded in the report said the department confirmed his tragic death with deep sadness.

CityNews reported that Constable Benredouane was 34 and had served with SPVM since 2021. The outlet also reported that civilian Michael Moshe Mizrahi was killed in the same incident and that another officer was wounded.

The Associated Press reported that a gunman opened fire from a hotel window, killing a Montreal police officer and a civilian before the suspect was shot dead by police. Authorities said officers were responding to the scene near the Hilton Garden Inn in Montreal when the gunfire erupted.

CityNews later reported that Constable Benredouane was a father with a second child on the way, citing comments from the president of the Montreal Police Brotherhood. The same report said his death marked the first Montreal police line-of-duty death since 2002.

This remembrance is offered with respect for Constable Benredouane’s family, his fellow SPVM officers, the wounded officer, the civilian victim’s family, and the Montreal community carrying the weight of this loss.

Constable Benredouane’s End of Watch is a solemn reminder that officers can be called into danger with little warning, and that every line-of-duty death leaves a family, a department, and a city changed.

ThinBlueNews creates original remembrance pages to honor law-enforcement sacrifice. ODMP is the nonprofit maintaining officer memorial records and support resources connected to fallen officers and their families. At publication time, a public ODMP search for Benredouane returned no matching memorial, so ThinBlueNews is citing ODMP here as a memorial-record/donation partner rather than as the source of the incident facts.
