CAMPBELL COUNTY, Kentucky — Campbell County Police Officer Samuel Broomall was recognized with the department’s Outstanding Achievement Award after officials said his actions helped save a severely injured victim.

According to the local report, Broomall responded on April 26 to a reported stabbing and shooting where a victim had severe traumatic injuries and life-threatening blood loss.
The proclamation read at the meeting said Broomall assessed the situation, recognized the need for immediate medical intervention and applied a tourniquet, bandages and direct pressure before emergency medical services arrived, according to LINK nky.
“Dedication to duty and an outstanding performance demonstrated by officer Broomall reflects great credit upon himself, the Campbell County Police Department and the law enforcement profession,” Sorrell said, according to the report.
The report said Broomall continued assisting medical personnel with patient care while additional medical resources were awaited. Pendery praised the presence of mind required to apply that training during a critical and chaotic situation.
