Washington State Patrol (WSP) says troopers are planning a two-day chain-enforcement emphasis on Snoqualmie Pass on November 3 and 4. The agency announced the operation on November 2, 2026; those are planned enforcement dates, not results of completed checks.

What commercial drivers should know

The emphasis will focus on commercial motor vehicle drivers carrying the appropriate amount of snow-traction devices for winter travel on the pass, according to the agency notice.

Trooper Jeremy Weber said the goal is education and compliance with commercial drivers carrying chains from November 1 to April 1. The notice addresses commercial motor vehicles; it should not be read as a blanket chain-carrying instruction for all passenger cars.

The announcement does not specify a chain count, vehicle-weight threshold, fine or installation procedure. It is an advance enforcement notice, not a statement of current posted chain conditions or road closures.

Where to find the agency notice

WSP says it will post results on social media after the emphasis is complete. The release directs questions about the operation to Public Information Officer Trooper Weber.
