The Roseville Police Department in Minnesota is offering two free identity-theft and scam-prevention presentations on Tuesday, November 17, 2026, with registration required for either session.

In its October 30, 2026 announcement, the city says Detective Ryan Weber and Roseville Police will host the presentations. The October 30 date is the announcement date; the sessions are still upcoming.

When, where and how to register

Each session lasts 90 minutes. The listed start times are 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., at Roseville City Council Chambers, 2660 Civic Center Dr. The city says space is limited.

Residents can register through the city’s DASH program portal or call 651-792-7006 to register.

What police will cover

The announced topics include recognizing common scams, protecting personal information, steps to help prevent identity theft and what to do if someone thinks they have been targeted.

The city’s notice describes sweepstakes scams demanding upfront payments, romance scams and fake computer-security alerts that direct people to fraudulent support numbers. It also covers check washing: stealing checks from the mail and altering them to redirect payments.

The notice identifies demands for secrecy, urgency and payment by cryptocurrency or gift cards as warning signs. Weber encourages residents to slow down and verify unexpected requests for money.

If you suspect fraud

The city advises contacting your bank and local police immediately if you suspect fraud and reporting scams to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center at IC3.gov. The notice cautions that recovering stolen money is often difficult; the presentation is not a promise of recovery.
