GLOBE, Arizona — The City of Globe plans a 10-month temporary traffic-safety demonstration along Broad Street, with installation work scheduled for November 10–12, according to a city notice.
The official notice is dated November 4, 2026; the city website posted it November 5, 2026. Those are the notice and release dates, not the planned installation dates.
What is planned between Cottonwood and Yuma
The city says the project will focus on the Broad Street corridor between Cottonwood Street and Yuma Street. At each of those two intersections, crews are scheduled to install flashing stop signs, painted curb extensions with flexible delineator posts, and a ladder-style crosswalk.
The plan also calls for ladder-style crosswalks at all major intermediate intersections between Cottonwood and Yuma.
According to the city, the treatments are intended to increase driver awareness at stop signs, shorten pedestrian crossing distances and improve visibility. These are the project's stated aims, not measured results from the demonstration.
Allow extra time around work zones
The city warns that active work zones may bring temporary traffic delays, brief lane restrictions or minor disruptions. It asks drivers to allow extra travel time, reduce speeds and use heightened caution through construction areas.
The notice identifies Speedy Striping, Inc. as an authorized city contractor performing safety enhancements and directs questions or complaints about city subcontractors to the city.
A temporary test before permanent decisions
The city describes the work as a federal Safe Streets and Roads for All demonstration funded by a U.S. Department of Transportation grant. The 10-month temporary project is intended to test traffic treatments before the city commits to permanent infrastructure investments.
The city says it will launch public outreach midway through the demonstration to gather feedback from residents, business owners and commuters about the treatments' effectiveness.
For questions about the project, the notice lists Stephen Smith at 928-200-9297.
