ABERDEEN, Maryland — Aberdeen Police Department officers are appearing alongside rescue dogs in Renee’s Rescues’ 2027 fundraising calendar, a campaign supporting dogs in need.

In an October 28, 2026 announcement, the department said members of its staff had adopted dogs from Renée’s Rescues and shared a preview of the calendar’s cover and first two months. The agency serves Aberdeen in Harford County, Maryland.

The dogs behind the calendar

These are family companions, not a story about an operational police K-9 deployment. WMAR’s Jeff Hager reported that Officer Shawn McMeekin’s hound, Duke, came from Renee’s Rescues in Delaware. The report also featured Corporal Cynthia Mowery and her dog, Buck.

McMeekin, identified by WMAR as a school resource officer, described talking about pets as a way to connect with children who are having a difficult day. He told the station that he talks about rescuing Duke and hears about the children’s own dogs. That account gives the calendar a connection to everyday community relationships, beyond its fundraising purpose.

What the purchase supports

The rescue’s own calendar listing prices the calendar at $25 and says each month features rescue dogs alongside the Aberdeen Police Department. The organization says purchases help provide care and second chances for dogs in need. The police announcement says calendar purchases support medical care and dogs awaiting families.

Readers interested in the calendar can find the ordering page directly on Renee’s Rescues’ website. The same site links to a separate dogs-for-adoption page for readers seeking adoption information.

The dates behind this update

The October 28 announcement is the dated update reported here, not a claim that the photography or fundraising began that day. The rescue’s product listing is dated October 17, 2026. Neither source establishes the photo-shoot date, and this report does not assign one.
